Seyitan Babatayo, the woman who accused singer, D’banj, of raping her in 2018, was allegedly forced to delete her tweets about the assault while in police custody, her lawyer has told Premium Times.

Benjamin Ese a friend of Ms Babatatyo, on June 3 accused D’banj of raping her in her Lagos hotel room on December 31, 2018.

The lawyer, Olamide Omileye, also claimed that Ms. Babatayo was also forced to send out new tweets denying her arrest and stating that she has moved on from the matter.

“They forced her to make those new tweets when she was in custody. They forced her to delete all her tweets and intimidated the hell out of her life,” he said.

Omileye also claimed that Ms. Babatayo was intimated and forced to share a cell with criminals while in custody ans is still traumatised by her experience.

“The girl has been so traumatised since she was released. She couldn’t believe it. When she was relating what happened to us yesterday, she was crying so much that.

“She said she slept in the same room, on the floor with criminals. She couldn’t believe that she was made to go through that by the Nigerian Police, just because she wanted to tell her own story,” he told the paper.

Ms. Babatayo was on Tuesday arrested by policemen from the Sodipo command after D’banj sued her for N100 million dollars as compensation for defamation of character.
