Zinedine Zidane, Real Madrid coach, has named captain, Sergio Ramos as the best defender in the world presently.
Zidane said this after Ramos led the Los Blancos to defeat Real Sociedad 2-1 in the La Liga encounter on Sunday night.
Zidane’s men defeated Sociedad at the Reale Arena Stadium, thanks to two goals from Ramos and Karim Benzema.
“For me, Ramos is the best defender in the world,” Zidane quoted by Real Madrid’s official website as saying.
“There are many really good defenders, but what he’s achieved for many years now is impressive.
“Knowing him as I do, because I have played with him, his personality means that he always strives for more and that is what he instills in the team and the club.”
Ramos, 34, is the highest-scoring defender in the history of La Liga.
The Spaniard has scored 68 La Liga goals for Real Madrid since joining the Santiago Bernabeu club from Sevilla in 2005.
