Ondo first lady, Betty Akeredolu and her security aide test positive for COVID-19

Barely few days after the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu tested positive for COVID-19, his wife, Mrs Betty Akeredolu, has also tested positive for the dreaded virus.

This was confirmed by a government official. “The samples of the First Lady which was collected two days ago and one of the security aides of the governor returned positive this morning.”

The official added that the First Lady has embarked on self-isolation but said:

“We are still awaiting the results of some media aides of the governors and some commissioners who interact with the state governor regularly.”

Governor Akeredolu tested positive for the virus on Tuesday, June 30.

In other news, Nigeria has recorded 626 new COVID-19 cases in the country as total infections from the virus rose to 27,110.

This was confirmed in a tweet on Thursday night by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Statistics from the NCDC shows that Lagos recorded 193 cases, followed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with 85 cases.
