Doctors in Lagos State have suspended their three-day warning strike.
Secretary of the Medical Guild, Dr. Ismail Ajibowo, stated this on Wednesday.
“The three-day warning strike will be suspended and work is to resume by 8am Thursday, 16th July, 2020,” a resolution contained in the communique issued after the Medical Guild Representative Council virtual meeting held on Wednesday (today) stated.
The doctors had on Monday embarked on a warning strike over wage disparity between the federal government doctors and state, non-payment of hazard allowance, disengagement of doctors at the isolation centres and two months salary arrears.
Recall that the State Government expressed disappointment over the warning strike and had earlier urged them to suspend their three days warning strike and return to work.
Meanwhile, the Chairman, Medical Guild, Dr Oluwajimin Sodipo, said the decision to suspend the strike was to allow for further engagement with the state government on their demands.
He said their members are expected to resume tomorrow (Thursday) morning.
