Nigeria records 653 new COVID-19 cases, total now 36,107

Nigeria has recorded 653 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 36,107.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known via its Twitter handle on Saturday.

The new cases of COVID-19 across the country spread thus:

Nigeria records 653 new COVID-19 cases, total now 36,107

Meanwhile, five hundred and twenty-five Nigerians caught up by the coronavirus lockdown in the United States of America (USA) and Cyprus were evacuated home Saturday by the federal government.

Three hundred and fifteen of them were airlifted to Abuja by an Ethiopian Airline while the remaining 210 came aboard a Turkish Airline.

The Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama who confirmed the development said those brought in by the Turkish Airline included Nigerian students from Cyprus, Nigerian professionals in Turkey and few Nigerian professional footballers.
