70-year-old lottery operator commits suicide over winnings in Lagos

Tragedy as a lottery shop operator simply identified as Baba Pool allegedly committed suicide inside his shop in Kayode Market, Abule Ijesa on Thursday, July 23.

According to informations obtained, the lottery shop operator killed himself over his inability to pay the winnings of his customers.

The 70-year-old lottery shop operator simply identified as Baba Pool left a suicide note before he reportedly hanged self inside his shop.

The suicide note read;

70-year-old lottery operator commits suicide over winnings in Lagos
The suicide note

Traders in the market who spoke with newsmen revealed that the two persons who were accused of causing the death of Baba Pool had some times ago played lottery in his shop but the 70-year-old lottery shop operator did not submit their tickets to the lottery office.

When the lottery players realized that they had won, they asked for their money but instead of explaining to them that he did not submit their tickets, he decided to take his life, they added.

Speaking on the sad incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Bala Elkana confirmed the incident.

Bala added that the two accused persons have been arrested and are currently being questioned.
