The National Executive Committee of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has cleared the Ondo State deputy governor, Hon. Agboola Ajayi to contest the October governorship election on its platform.
The Chairman of the party in the state, Hon. Joseph Akinlaja, who confirmed this said the National leadership of the party had cleared Ajayi as the party’s candidate in the October governorship election in the state.
According to Akinlaja, Ajayi would formally join the ZLP on Tuesday and would be formally unveiled as the candidate of the ZLP for the governorship election.
He said the ZLP was poised to winning the governorship election in October, saying the party remains a party to beat in the forthcoming governorship election.
Ajayi who resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in June and joined the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he contested the party primary in July but lost the ticket to Eyitayo Jegede.
Ajayi however, met with the former governor Olusegun Mimiko who threw his support thing the aspiration of Ajayi.
Ajayi application has been sent to the NEC of the party which met last weekend and approved his application and will be contesting against his principal, Rotimi Akeredolu on the governorship election.
