The helpless people of Magumeri community in Borno State have been brutally attacked by unknown gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members on Monday, August 17.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that Boko Haram insurgents destroyed the only functional telecommunications mast in the community and also ruined a recently equipped hospital by the Borno State Government and other facilities.
It was reported that the insurgents invaded the community at about 4pm on Monday, August 17, shooting sporadically.
According to report, the military airstrike engaged the sect members in a gun battle but it did not deter the sect members who destroyed anything in sight.
Unfortunately, a woman was reportedly killed in the crossfire while several other persons sustained serious injuries.
Magumeri, the Borno community which has witnessed a series of Boko Haram attacks, is about 40km drive from Maiduguri, the state capital.

In a related story, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that John Eneche, the coordinator of defence media operations has opened up on alleged attack on Borno governor’ convoy, saying it was Boko Haram that attacked Babagana Zulum’s convoy in Baga and not soldiers.
This is coming days after the Borno state governor alleged that the attack was an act of sabotage.
