According to him, she was an outstanding medical professional and a woman of integrity whose tenure at the Federal University Dutsinma is a testimony of her good works.

”Her demise is particularly touching because she was my family doctor in addition to the fact that her brother, Dr Suhayb Rafindadi is also my personal physician,” he stated.

President Buhari expressed sadness over the death of Dr Marliya Zayyana.

The Nigerian leader who is so touched by her death described it as a personal loss due to their close relationship. Buhari, in his condolence message, also reached out to her family, the Katsina Emirate Council and the Katsina state government.

The year 2020 has been a really tough one, especially for President Buhari who lost a number of people close to him to the cold hands of death. His chief of staff one of the most powerful men in the country, Abba Kyari, was hit by the deadly coronavirus and he did not survive it. He died on April 17 at a hospital in Lagos at the age of 67.

Few days after the death of Kyari, Buhari’s bodyguard, Lawal Mato, a warrant officer, also passed on after three years of struggling with diabetes.

In May, Buhari lost his nephew, Alhaji Ibrahim Dauda, after a protracted illness in Daura, Katsina state. The death of Mallam Ismaila Isa Funtua, a longtime friend and associate of President Buhari on July 20, also caused much pain to the Nigerian leader.

The president prayed to Allah for the repose of his soul and to grant the family strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
