A 17-year-old man identified as Daniel James has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly defiling sisters within the ages of 7 and 5.
This was contained in a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state on Saturday, September 19.
The PPRO said that the suspect was arrested after the victims‘ parents reported at the ‘D’ Division Bauchi.
“On the 17/09/2020 at about 1809hrs one Hannatu Sadiq ‘f’ aged 35yrs of Nassarawa Jahun Bauchi and Hajara Abdullahi ‘f’ aged 25yrs of the same address jointly came to ‘D’ Division Bauchi and reported that on the same date at about 1600hrs one Daniel James ‘m’ aged 17yrs of the same address, raped their two daughters named Hasiya (not real name) ‘f’ aged 7yrs of the same address and Hauwa (not real name) ‘f’ aged 5yrs of the same address,” the statement reads.
The PPRO said: “On receipt of the report team of Policemen was drafted to the scene. The victims were rushed to General Hospital Bauchi for Medical Examination and the suspect arrested. During interrogation he confessed to the crime and attested to be a sodomy. Investigation is on progress after which suspect will be charge to court for prosecution,”
In a similar development, the command also arrested one man Munkaila Ladan, 18, who allegedly raped an 8-year-old girl in Kutaru village.
“On the 02/08/2020 at about 1930hrs one Abubakar Mustapha ‘m’ of Mararraban Liman Katagum came to Divisional Headquarters Liman Katagum and reported that on the same date at about 1600hrs one munkaila Ladan ‘m’ aged 18yrs of Kutaru village raped the daughter of one Abubakar Mustapha named Hadiza (not real name) ‘f’ aged 8yrs of same address at outskirt of Mararraban Liman Katagum,”
“On receipt of the report team of detectives were drafted to the scene victim was rushed to Hospital for medical examination. Suspect was arrested and confessed to the crime.” DSP Wakil added.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Lawan Tanko Jimeta commended members of the public especially those that keyed into (SGBV) sexual and gender base violence and call on parent and guardians to closely monitor their children and equally sensitize them to keep distance from people of bad character.
While reaffirming his zero tolerance for corruption and other social vices, CP Jimeta ordered the suspects to be profiled, properly investigated and charged to court without any delay.
The Command urged members of the public not to relent in providing useful information that may assist the police in making the State safe and to ensure that people in the state sleep “with their two eyes closed.”
