The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Godwin Obaseki has scored the highest votes in the 2020 Edo gubernatorial election.
WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that the PDP candidate maintained his winning with high margin ahead of of his closest rival, APC candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Obaseki, before the latest collation led Ize-Iyamu with over 14,000 votes in the first 4 local government that was announced, he later increased the lead with over 50,000 votes after another 7 local governments were announced in the morning. Surprisingly, he later topped the margin with over 100,000 votes within a short period of time after more local governments results were announced.
Results from all the local government areas have been announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Obaseki appears so have scored the highest votes casted.
Ahead of official announcement of the winner, total votes casted, as announced by INEC is 550,242, total number of valid votes in the election is 537,407, and rejected votes – 12,835.
Obaseki has led by scoring 307,955 votes across while Osagie Ize-Iyamu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), scored 223,619 votes.
