Three policemen, one identified as Corporal Oluwafemi Adeyanju, and two other inspectors who were part of 1,000 cops deployed from Lagos State by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu to complement their colleagues during the recently concluded Edo State gubernatorial poll, have lost their lives en-route their Lagos station on Sunday September 20.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the policemen who spent a week in Edo State for the election which favored Obaseki, were on their way to Lagos Station after they had completed their assignment, when the ghastly accident occurred along Benin-Ore Expressway in Ondo State.
According to reports, three policemen were killed on the spot, leaving many others with various degrees of injury.
The corpses of the deceased policemen were deposited in the Ore General Hospital’s mortuary, while the family of Corporal Adeyanju has claimed his body and buried him in his home town of Akure.
35-year-old corporal Adeyanju,was reportedly survived by his wife, children, sisters and aged father.
