Comrade Timi Frank, the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress has accused the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) of taking Nigerians for a ride by suspending its proposed indefinite strike to protest increase in pump price of petrol and electricity tariffs.

Recall that labour leaders had suspended the planned strike after reaching agreement with the Federal Government on palliatives while setting up a technical Committee to work out the possibility of a tariff increase.

This was contained in a statement released by the the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja.

Frank asked trade unions affiliated to the NLC and the TUC to immediately pass a vote of no confidence on the NLC and TUC executives for betrayal and colossal embarrassment of the Organised Labour.

He urged Nigerians to remain resolute and steadfast because “tough times never last but tough people do” adding the country shall yet emerge from this economic darkness into a new dawn of prosperity with adequate security.

He said Nigerians must find a way to make themselves happy notwithstanding the harsh economic realities, which has been further aggravated by the recent sharp increases in the pump price of fuel and electricity tariffs by an uncaring administration.

While lamenting the rising insecurity situation in the country, Frank said 60 years after independence incidences of killings, rape, kidnapping, road crashes have been on the increase and asked the current administration to proactively secure the lives and property of citizens and embark on necessary infrastructural renewal.

He said: “Mr. President must use the occasion of Nigeria at 60 to plead for forgiveness and initiate progressive policies that would reunite the nation as an indivisible entity.

“With Nigeria attaining 60 years of nationhood, Buhari’s only legacy that is visible to Nigerians are his divisive tendencies and infliction of unbearable pain, sorrow, tears and hardship on innocent citizens.”
