Nollywood actor, film director and politician, Yul Edochie, has said he can not wish anyone happy independence when his people are not happy.
Edochie stated this on Thursday morning, October 1 in a post on his verified microblogging site account, Twitter.
Stating why he would not celebrate the independence with anyone, the 38-years-old actor said Nigerians are suffering, listing related causes of the hardship as Fuel price increase, electricity tariff hike, joblessness, hardship and many more.
“I cannot wish anyone happy independence when my people are not happy. What are we celebrating?” Edochie asked in his tweet.
He added, “Fuel price increase? Electricity tariff hike? Hardship? Bad roads? Killings everywhere? Jobless youths turned beggars? The list is endless.”
“Speak the truth. Nigerians are suffering.”
