Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state has urged men of the Nigeria police force, Edo state command who abandoned their duty post during the #EndSARS protests which was hijacked by hoodlums, to return to work.

WITHIN NIGERIA gathered that some Policemen abandoned their duty post as a result of the targeted attacks on security operatives especially against the police during the #EndSARS protests which was hijacked by hoodlums thereby leading to the break down of law and order.

During the crisis, many police stations were reportedly attacked and about two jailbreaks at the Benin and Oko prisons where 1,993 inmates reportedly escaped.

Obaseki, while paying a solidarity visit to Johnson Kokumon, the state police commissioner, on Monday, Obaseki said his government would pay hospital bill for officers injured during the crisis.
