Former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings has died from COVID-19 complications.
It was gathered that he died on Thursday morning at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, capital of Ghana.
Rawlings was a military ruler who later joined politics and ruled Ghana from 1981 to 2001.
He led a military junta until 1992, and then served two terms as the democratically elected president of Ghana.
It is reported that the first President of Ghana’s 4th Republic died after contracting coronavirus.
He was in intensive care before his demise.
He was born on June 22, 1947. Rawlings was 73.
