A 19-year-old student, Azeez Akintola, has caused his family to panic after he went missing about three weeks ago.

Azeez is said to be a 300-level Chemistry student at Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo State, affiliated to the Obafemi Awolowo University.

Newsmen learnt that the teenager, who lived with his parents at Ilode, Ile-Ife, Osun State, had strolled out around 6pm on October 25 but did not return home.

His father, Kolawole Akintola, who spoke to our correspondent on the telephone, said Azeez had told him that he was going somewhere within the neighbourhood.

He said the family became apprehensive when he did not return home several hours later.

Kolawole stated, “He works with a man as a PoS agent at Sabo. He came back from work that day and around 6pm, he left home again. He told me he would come back soon. When I asked him where he was going, he said he just wanted to see someone within the vicinity. He was not specific. We waited till night but didn’t see him.

“We called his boss to find out if he returned to the shop but he told us he didn’t see him. The following day, we started searching around for him. All his friends we know said they didn’t see him or hear from him.”

The father said a week before his son went missing, robbers had attacked the family and carted phones, including Azeez’s.

He added, “That was why there was no phone with him. No one has phoned in to inform us about his whereabouts. He is running a degree programme at the Adeyemi College of Education in affiliation to OAU.

He is a 300-level Chemistry student. We reported the case at Agaun Police Station and the police said have radioed all the stations across the state.”

The spokesperson for police in Osun State, Yemisi Opalola, could not be reached on her mobile phone for comments on the incident. She had also yet to reply to a text message sent to her as of press time.
