President Muhammadu Buhari will “address” a joint session of the National Assembly on Thursday, December 10, 2020.
This is according to the president’s aide on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie who made the announcement on Twitter on Monday.
Although she made no mention of the purpose of the visit, the President’s appearance at the National Assembly may not be unconnected to the summon by the House of Representatives over the recent killing of 43 farmers in Zabarmari community in Borno State.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has renewed the appointment of Mr Ahmed Kuru as Managing Director of the Asset Management Corporation (AMCOM) of Nigeria for the final term of five years.
The President also re-nominated Mr Eberechukwu Uneze and Mr Aminu Ismail as Executive Directors of the Corporation.
A statement issued by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said President Buhari had already conveyed the decision to the National Assembly in a letter to the Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan.
According to the President’s letter to the NASS, he was seeking Senate’s confirmation of the nominees by the Upper Chamber in accordance with Section 10(1) of the AMCON Act, 2010.
