Burna Boy’s new album Twice as Tall records 5million streams in one hour

Singer, Damini Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy has made history by being the first Nigerian artist and the third African to win the Edison Award, with Youssou N’Dour winning it first in 1994 and Angélique Kidjo in 2018.

It’s another win for the Afro-fusion project that single-handedly catapulted Burna Boy into the international spotlight and had all eyes on him – and rightly so.

Late Sunday night, the self-proclaimed African Giant took to his Twitter handle to salute all his fans and the organisers of the Edison Award.

“Shouts to the Edison Awards and all my Dutch outsiders! I’m honoured.”

He recently released his Twice As Tall album which features a plethora of talent including Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Naughty by Nature, Stormzy, and Sauti Sol. Executive produced by Sean “Diddy” Combs and Mama Burna (Bosede Ogulu), the 15-track album sees Burna Boy firmly cementing his place as an Afro-fusion artist, a genre he says he created.
