Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has requested state governors to stop local rogues from sabotaging oil installations across the country.
This was contained in a statement released on Tuesday by the presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu where President Buhari was quoted saying destruction of oil pipelines have become a routine.
The president said his administration has done well in many areas but happenings in the south-south region remains worrisome.
“Every day I get situation reports about illegal refineries and the blowing up of pipelines. You must stop local rogues from sabotaging oil installations,” he said.
Buhari urged governors to collaborate with traditional rulers in the area of intelligence gathering.
He said the subregions are no longer safe as insecurity remains a challenge.
The president said his administration is working to address the problem of banditry and kidnapping, adding that the military will be charged to infiltrate their bases and eliminate them.
