Regina Daniels, a Nollywood actress has been named in a petition written by her husband and billionaire business man Ned Nwoko over an alleged plot to assassinate him.
Nwoko, in a petition to the police alleged that a prisoner at Kuje Prison said he overheard two other prisoners discussing how they were sponsored by an oil magnate to assassinate him.
The two other prisoners are indigenes of Idumuje-Ugboko in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State held over the communal crisis in the village.
According to Nwoko, the third prisoner subsequently alerted a member of his church who then notified the actress.
Nwoko’s petition led to the invitation of founder and group managing director of Rainoil Limited Dr Gabriel Ogbechie by the police.
Nwoko and Ogbechie are from Idumuje-Ugboko.
Ogbechie, however, dismissed allegation that he is after Nwoko’s life, saying it is an attempt to tarnish his image.
The prisoner, who allegedly heard of a plot to assassinate Nwoko is said to know Regina Daniels as brand ambassador of a product owned by a member of the prisoner’s church.
“So, he quickly sent a text message to the church member on what he had heard. It was the church member who then alerted Regina Daniels, prompting her to inform her husband,” a statement from Nwoko read.
The statement added that neither Nwoko nor Regina knew the prisoner personally.
Speaking on his invitation by the police, Ogbechie said “I have absolutely no idea what Ned Nwoko was alleging.
“Ned Nwoko and Regina Daniels are in the best position to explain the relationship between her and a prisoner in Kuje Prison.
“Besides, the random prisoner only alleged that he heard them mention an oil magnate, therefore the assertion that the oil magnate is Chief Gabriel Ogbechie is entirely that of Ned Nwoko.”
Ogbechie also dismissed reports that he was arrested over Nwoko’s petition, saying he honoured police invitation and went home shortly afterward.
