Fast rising Nigerian singer and record producer, Stanley Omah Didia known professionally as Omah Lay, has confirmed his arrest in Uganda a few minutes after the news of his arrest hit social media.
The ‘Bad Influence’ crooner also gave a hint as to why he was picked up by the police.
According to reports, the 23 year-old singer was arrested by Katwe Police in Uganda along side the Manager of the venue identified as Dungu Ivan and the events manager Prim Kasana are also in custody.
The singer is allegedly accused of performing in a large congregation which is the against the COVID-19 guideline in Uganda.
The concert took place on Saturday after the singer and organizers was warned from performing at the concert.
The assistant Superintendent of police and deputy police spokesman of Kampala police in Uganda in a statement released on Twitter, wrote;
“Nigerian Artist Omah lay has been arrested by katwe police , the manager of the venue one Dungu Ivan and the Events manager Prim Kasana are also in custody. More details to follow.
“Temilade Openiyi Aka Ms Tems (Artist) also been arrested with her manager Muyiwa Awomiyi”
Giving an update on his arrest, Omah Lay took to Twitter to assure his fans that things would be sorted out soon. He wrote;
“Yes I’m with the Ugandan police… something about the show from last night. Everything would be fine…”
