Unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits have reportedly attacked Madaka village of Rafi Local Government of Niger State, leading to the death of three people.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that those killed in the attack were identified as the leader of the vigilante group in Madaka, Isyaku Alhassan, hia son Abdulhamid Isyaku and one other person whose name is yet to be ascertained.
It was also learnt that Alhaji Zakari Ya’u, the village Head of Madaka was kidnapped for the second time but he has been released after being held hostage for over three months by bandits.
This development was confirmed to newsmen by the Chief of Staff to the LG Chairman, Mohammed Mohammed.
According to the chief of staff, the report he got indicated that the bandits who were camping in a village closer to Madaka, attacked the community today at about 11:00 am. He said the attack lasted till 2:00 pm.
A resident of Madaka and Secretary of the Road Transport Workers Union in Madaka, Nasiru Paki also revealed that the bandits injured scores of other residents after setting many houses in the village on fire.
