A man identified as Ahmodu Mohammed who is said to be a chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kampala ward, Bosso local government area of Niger state has been reportedly killed by gunmen suspected to be bandits.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that three daughters of the deceased were also kidnapped by the gunmen.
According to report, at least 15 attackers on Thursday invaded the PDP ward chairman residence around 2am and killed him after two previous raids in the community and at a neighbourhood market.
The ward chairman has, however, been reportedly buried according to Islamic rites.
Attempts to speak with the police public relations officer (PPRO) in Niger state, Wasiu Abiodun were futile as text messages sent to his phone were not returned.
Recall that there have been incessant attacks by bandits in Niger and other states in the north in recent times.
Mohammed’s reported killing comes days after gunmen raided Madaka village in Rafi local government area in Niger state, which led to the death of at least three people — the attack occurred on December 20, 2020.
This is coming weeks after gunmen suspected to be bandits raided Ukuru village in Mariga local government area of the state which led to the death of 14 residents.
