National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA) on Wednesday, December 30, said its operatives intercepted 9,075 kilograms of illicit drugs in Kano state alone in the outgoing year, 2020.
Commander of NDLEA in Kano State, Ibrahim Abdul, disclosed that the agency arrested over 1,035 suspects.
Abdul, while giving a breakdown of the illicit drugs seized said that “in 2020 we intercepted 7,108.7 kilograms of Indian hemp, 1,966.3 kilograms of psychotropics and 0.138 kilograms of cocaine”.
He added that the agency has “rehabilitated and counselled 998 drug addicts while 40 others were admitted to psychiatric centres and 44 discharged after undergoing counselling.”
