Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former Vice president, has been pictured receiving the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in Dubai, the United Arab Emirate, thus becoming the first known Nigerian public figure to have done so.
According to his spokesperson, Paul Ibe, the former Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate was jabbed on Wednesday, January 6th, 2021.
Recall that the 74-year-old had rooted for the vaccine in his new year message which “would soon be available for vaccination in Nigeria” with the hope that “life would return to normal” soon.
“The importance of the #COVID19 vaccine in mitigating the effect of the coronavirus cannot be overstated, particularly in Africa and Nigeria. Yesterday (Wednesday), as part of the mass vaccination programme, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar received the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine,” Ibe said.
Meanwhile, veteran journalist, Dele Momodu shared photos of the former V.P getting the jab of the Pfizer vaccine in the popular white jalabiya attire with the caption:
