The Senate of the University of Calabar has announced February 5 as its resumption date for the 2019/2020 Academic Session, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi, has said.
Obi, who disclosed this to newsmen at the end of the Senate’s meeting on Monday, in Calabar, said the date was carefully chosen to give the management sufficient time to effect repairs in the hostels, vandalised during the EndSARS protests in the institution on Oct. 24, 2020.
“All students are to resume on Feb. 5 while lectures will commence on Feb. 8 accordingly,” she said.
Meanwhile, as schools officially resume nationwide today, the ministry of education has warned that no returning student or the parent should be subjected to undergo COVID-19 test as a prerequisite for acceptance into the school.
The directive came on the heels of some reports that some institutions have mandated their returning students to undergo COVID-19 before being allowed into the school premises.
