The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Anambra state command, Thursday, said it has discovered an unidentified corpse of a man believed to have been a pedestrian crushed to death by a motorist.
According to Edor Florence, the Sector Public Education Officer, the corpse was found in a pool of his blood along Ihiala-Owerri road, in Ihiala, Ihiala local government area.
“Unidentified driver crushed a yet to be identified male adult along Ihiala Owerri road on 20th January, 2021. Eyewitness report reaching us indicates that the yet to be identified man was found lying in the pool of his blood by the road side after he was run over by an unidentified driver,” Edor stated.
She said the FRSC rescue team from Ihiala Command when alerted of the development took the corpse to a nearby hospital where it was confirmed dead by a medical doctor and was subsequently deposited at a morgue.
“The man was found lying in a pool of his own blood, and there was nothing to identify him. He was taken to ArchAngel hospital where he was confirmed dead by the Doctor on duty, and his body has been deposited at a mortuary. The DPO Uli police station and his men were also at the scene of the crash,” she added.
Edor said the state Sector Commander, Mr Andrew Kumapayi, has warned drivers to always apply a maximum speed limit of 50km/hr while imploring the pedestrians to be watchful when walking along the road.
