Tragedy as six people which include an infant and three members of a family died in a ghastly accident in Kaduna.
The tragic incident occurred when armed men suspected to be bandits opened fire on vehicles along the Kaduna Birnin Gwari road.
This was contained in a statement released on Friday by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan.
The commissioner said the bandits, who were on the run from aggressive patrols by security agencies in the Birnin Gwari general area, took to the highway around Ungwan Dangedda and as they retreated, shot at several vehicles.
“The driver of one commercial vehicle was hit, and lost control of the vehicle, which somersaulted several times before coming to a stop. The bandits then fled the location,” said Aruwan.
Six persons died on the spot from the crash. They have been identified as Abdurrashid Ya’u, Sa’idu Ya’u, Ramatu Ya’u and an unidentified infant. Others are Suwaiba Ali, Sulaiman Ustaz.
The following persons in a different vehicle suffered injuries: Ubale Yahuza, Rabiu Ibrahim, Umar Musa, Saude Yusuf, Mohammed Aminu and Kadima Mercy
However, Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna state has expressed sadness at the report, and prayed for the repose of the souls of those who perished in the crash, while sending his condolences to their families.
He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
