Sister cries out as 30-year-old younger brother who got missing in Lagos 3-years ago is yet to be found

Lady recounts how 30-year-old younger brother was allegedly "kidnapped" in Lagos


Pains, anxiety, loss and disappointment can only explain the mood of the family of late Ferdinand Onuchukwu of Ngali Alike Obowo, Imo state following the sudden disappearance of their son Chukwuemeka Maxwell Onuchukwu

Chukwuemeka was said to have gone to work in Lagos where they stayed on July 20, 2020 and has never come back since then.

Narrating the ugly incident to WITHIN NIGERIA in an exclusive chat with our reporter, the elder sister to the young Onuchukwu, Miss Nkechi  Onuchukwu explained that since the incident occurred, the family has been living in palpable fear and loss.

According to the sister, “he worked with one man at Apapa Tincan. My brother is 30 years old and about five feet tall. He was connected to the job by his girlfriend called Angelica. He also shuttled between another job as a bar attendant too, which is close to my area and so he reported there after work.”

Narrating further, Nkechi said that  “that Friday he went to work with his colleague and one driver. They were sent to drop a car for his boss at Agoh roundabout close to one Mr Biggs.

“Customer to my elder brother called him that night too but he said he was still there waiting for the person at around past nine. So, according to his second, his boss asked him to withdraw money for transport with his ATM which he did.

“And they both departed and we thought he went to the bar where he worked so we didn’t call him.

“However, on Saturday the next day his boss called me asking if he was at home; that he was supposed to bring key for them but they didn’t see him.”

Explaining further she stated that “it was at that point that we became anxious and restless. We started looking for him. I went to all the police stations that night to search for him in the cells but we didn’t see him.

“The following morning being Sunday, we resumed the search. At that point, I wrote a statement at  the police station about my  missing brother.”

Asked how the police response of the police has been like, Nkechi said that, “when we reported to the police, at first they were sluggish about it until a family friend intervened. That was when they started making move.

“We also went to Yaba police headquarters, Lagos. The policewoman in charge directed us to Surulere police station, but we couldn’t continue with the case because of the money they requested to go to the place they said they have tracked his phone.

On whether Chukwuemeka could have had any squabbles with any person or colleague to warrant his sudden disappearance, Nkechi pointed out that “he did not say anything like that, but he kept on complaining about his colleague whom when they both went to drop the car together, they usually have issues sometimes.”

The elder sister further narrated that “He was learning clearing and forwarding job from one Mr Chibuike and yet to be married.

“Since the incident occurred, my family has been restless. No day passes without my family thinking about Maxwell. Everyday, we wake up to assume that he will come back that day, but all to no avail. Happiness and joy seemed to have departed from my family since that day.”

On the character of her younger brother, she recounted that ” my brother is an easy going young man. He is also hardworking and intelligent. He hardly picked quarrel with anybody. He is so much loved by everybody around him.”

Asked what she thought might have happened to him, Miss Onuchukwu said, ” I guess he might have been kidnapped. I also believe that he is still alive.”

However, appealing to the general public, Miss Onuchukwu stressed that “he is my immediate younger brother. He is from Imo state, Ngali Alike Obowo to be precise.

“Anybody with useful information about his whereabouts should please report to the nearest police station or call me on 0813 534 9340.”
