    21 days after gruesome murder, police arrest suspected killer of medical doctor in Zamfara

    21 days after a medical doctor identified as Dr Enoch Okpara was gruesomely murdered in Gusau, operatives of the Zamfara State Police Command have arrested a suspected killer identified as Abubakar Namalika.

    WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that Police in Zamfara state says it will investigate the gruesome murder of a medical doctor identified as Enoch Okpara.

    The deceased, Okpara was a consultant Obstetrics/Gynaecologist working at the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau before he was found dead at his residence in Mareri area of the state capital on Saturday, June 13.

    Recall that he was firstly declared missing and an alarm was raised by the church where he worshipped while alive after he did not show up for a program on Saturday morning which was quite unusual.

    The remains of the deceased was found burnt beyond recognition.

    Reacting to arrest of the suspected killer, th state Commissioner of Police, Usman Nagogo told newsmen that Abubakar had already confessed to the killing and had even given more information on other crimes that the command had commenced investigations on.

    Nagogo explained that the suspect was arrested on Sunday by a team of Operation Puff Adder around 10 p.m. while he and some of his gang members now at large, were trying to commit another crime.

    “During interrogation, the suspect who belong to the gang of a notorious criminal, Shehu Bagewaye, known as Shehu Gusami, informed the police of many other atrocities he committed including the killing of five innocent persons.

    The suspect said he was also part of the gang that recently invaded Dogon kade village where they killed seven persons.

    He revealed to us that they went to late Dr Enoch Okpara’s house to collect money from him at all cost, without which they were to kill the victim.

    Namalika said when they could not get the money, they killed him and burnt the remains within the house where the doctor lived alone,” the CP explained.

    The police commissioner said that the command was on the trail of the other four gang members that killed the medical doctor.

    Black lives matter activist Toyin Salau suspected killer arrested

    Tallahassee Police have arrested the suspected killer of 19-year-old Tallahassee, Florida-based Black Lives Matter activist of Nigerian origin, Toyin Salau, who was found dead after she tweeted about her sexual assault.

    Moments before her death, Toyin had taken to the micro blogging platform, Twitter to share the story of a man that offered her a free ride, but later assaulted her sexually.

    She went further to give details of his appearance, before she went missing and was subsequently found dead.

    The Tallahassee Police Department has now released the mugshot of Toyin Salau’s suspected killer after he was arrested on Sunday.

    According to arrest records in Orange County, Florida, 49-year-old Aaron Glee Jr., was arrested in Orlando on June 14 on an out-of-county warrant from Leon County on charges of homicide-felony murder.

    Police said at approximately 9:15 pm Saturday night, TPD investigators arrived in 2100 block of Monday Road to follow up investigation on a missing person case. During the course of the investigation, two deceased people were located in the area.

    The TPD identified 19-year-old Oluwatoyin “Toyin” Salau and Victoria Sims, 75, a AARP volunteer as victims of a double-homicide. Both women were reported missing before being found dead in the area.

    “UPDATE in Double Homicide Investigation 6/15/2020

    Investigators have identified the victims in this case as missing persons Oluwatoyin Salau, 19, and Victoria Sims, 75.

    Both names have been released with permission of their families in accordance with Marsy’s Law.

    The suspect in this case has been identified as Aaron Glee Jr, 49. As stated earlier, he has been taken into custody.

    There is no further information to release at this time.

    TPD Conducts Homicide Investigation on Monday Road

    At approximately 9:15 pm Saturday night, June 13th, TPD investigators arrived in 2100 block of Monday Road in the course of a follow up investigation in a missing person case. During the course of the investigation, two deceased people were located in the area.
    As the investigation continued, investigators developed a suspect. The suspect is now in custody and no more information is available at this time.
    The deaths are being investigated as homicides and have been turned over to TPD’s Violent Crime Unit. The investigation is ongoing and currently there are no more details available.”

    Three years after, police arrest suspected killer of Catholic priest in Imo

    A prime suspect identified as Charles Nnanna who was linked with the murder of a Reverend father, Cyriacus Onunkwo in Omuma Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State has been arrested by the Imo state police command.

    Recall that Reverend Okonkwo was kidnapped in September 2017 while planning the burial of his father. Gunmen killed Reverend Okonkwo and his body was found a day later at Omuma in Oru East Local Government Area of the state.

    This was disclosed in a statement released by the police command in the state on Saturday, March 7th.

    The statement disclosed that the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) arrested one Charles Nnanna who has been at large over the murder of the Reverend father.

    It added that the suspect is the last of the four-man gang who committed the alleged crime.

    According to the police, investigation carried out shows that the suspect fled to Indonesia immediately after the crime, and based on credible intelligence, he was arrested during his traditional wedding ceremony a few days ago In Imo state

    The command said that Nnanna has confessed to the crime as well as his role in the operation and he will be arraigned in court soon.

    Police arrest suspected killer of Temitope Sugar Olatoye

    The Oyo State Police Command have said they have succeeded in arresting a suspected killer of Temitope Sugar Olatoye, a member of the Federal House of Representatives, who was killed on Saturday.

    The Assistant Inspector General of Police in Zone Eleven, Leye Oyebade and Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Shina Olukolu, made this revelation to Tribune Online on Monday.

    They also stated that aside the suspect linked with Sugar’s case, about 18 persons, six guns, nine live cartridges, axe, knives and other miscellaneous items were recovered, while the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) had been carrying out investigations

    The AIG and the police commissioner, however, said that Sugar’s death was in no way connected with the elections that took place on the day he was killed.

    The Commissioner said:

    “We have got a suspect but we can’t reveal all the details. I was at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan with the Oyo State Commissioner of Police on Saturday. The Chief Medical Director of the UCH was also with us.

    “From that point, we picked up the investigation. I want to assure members of the public that the IGP’s mandate is that no stone should be left unturned in unravelling the cause of the incident.

    “But the incident is not directly connected with the elections, going by the venue of the incident and the information we gathered of what happened prior to the incident,” the AIG said.
