The State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) of Kano state has recently shared relief materials to recent fire disaster victims to alleviate their suffering.
The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Saleh Jili, made the disclosure while distributing the materials to the beneficiaries on Monday in Kano.
Dr. Jili said that the materials included six bags of maize, six bags of rice, six pieces of blankets, three bags of salt, six bags of cement. Other items according to him include six pillows, six bundles of roofing sheets, and six mattresses.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), each beneficiary was given two bundles of roofing sheets, two mattresses, two pillows, two bags of rice, two bags of maize, one bag of salt, two bags of cement, and two pieces of blanket each.
“On behalf of the State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, we distribute the materials to the three beneficiaries from Dala, Fagge, and Tarauni Local Government Areas of Kano, with the hope that the gesture will bring relief to the victims to alleviate their suffering.
” We find it necessary to extend our sympathy to the victims affected by fire disaster that burnt down their houses and their properties this month.
“We have deployed our personnel to the affected areas for the conduct of damage assessment. The agency would not relent in its effort to assist the victims, protect lives and property,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jili said that the agency also invited the Chairmen of Kurmi Market, Kantin Kwari Market Kano, Sabon Gari Market, Singer Market, and Yan Katako Market Kano among others to discuss the way forward to prevent fire disasters in markets.
Hajiya Fatima Abubakar, speaking on behalf of the victims, commended the agency for the donation.
