Mr Ahmed Taiwo, an Ilorin-based legal practitioner, has advised youths to stay focused and avoid spending too much time on social media.

Taiwo, who gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Saturday, said social media addiction was causing youths to lose focus.

According to him, many young people spend hours on their phones doing things that are of little or no value to them.

“Instead of doing reasonable things, they spend their time on their phones and computers, making friends and following celebrities on social media.”

“Youths must learn to manage their time wisely and to plan for the future.”

“Social media can be distracting; young people must overcome their addiction.”

“There are many opportunities on social media, but many young people are not taking advantage of them,” he said.

The lawyer also advised the youngsters to be disciplined and to avoid doing things that would jeopardize their future.
