In raids on black spots in Jigawa’s Dutse, Gumel, and Ringim Local Government Areas, police arrested 17 suspects.
ASP Lawan Shiisu, a state police spokesperson, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday that the operations took place between November 17 and November 22.
Shiisu stated that the raids were part of an effort to rid the state of criminals.
“Between November 17 and November 22, suspected black spots in Dutse, Gumel, and Ringim were raided, yielding 17 suspects.”
“Cold patch solution known as ‘Sholisho,’ wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis sativa, Exol tablets, and codeine syrup were recovered from them,” he said.
According to NAN, from November 4 to November 10, police arrested ten suspects in raids on black spots in Taura and Kiyawa Local Government Areas.
Three suspects, aged 26 to 37, were apprehended in Taura.
Two wraps of dried cannabis sativa leaves, cold patch solution, 100 liters of local beer known as “Burukutu,” and armoured cable were recovered from them.
On November 10, seven suspects aged 11 to 35 were apprehended during a raid in Shuwarin village, Kiyawa Local Government.
Similarly, on Oct. 9, police said they arrested 14 suspects in Gumel and Kazaure Local Governments and recovered weeds suspected to be cannabis sativa as well as two unregistered motorcycles during a raid.
