Due to the general COVID-19 protocols, the Calabar Carnival 2021 will take place inside the UJ Esuene Sports Stadium.
Mr Eric Anderson, the Commissioner for Tourism, made this known in a phone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Calabar.
According to Anderson, due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has ravaged the world, the activities for the 2021 carnival have been designed to take place within the stadium.
He stated that there were no plans for the participants to dance through the 12-kilometer routes that ran along major Calabar streets in previous years.
The theme of the carnival will be revealed by Gov. Ben Ayade on Nov. 29, according to the Commissioner.
“I can tell you unequivocally that the carnival will take place this year.” The theme will be unveiled by the Governor on November 29. I’ve contacted the band leaders to invite them to the Nov. 29 meeting.
We decided to hold the festival inside the stadium because we are serious about enforcing COVID-19 protocols.” The stadium will aid us in crowd control and seating arrangements for people watching the live show.
“It’ll be a fun-filled moment, as usual; Calabar Carnival will take place this year,” he assured.
