President Muhammadu Buhari has joined family and friends in wishing veteran journalist Folu Olamiti a happy 70th birthday on November 28, 2021.
The president congratulated the renowned editor, columnist, and media consultant for devoting his time to serve the nation and humanity in a statement issued by his media aide, Malam Garba Shehu, on Saturday in Abuja.
On the occasion, the president congratulated the journalist and his professional colleagues from the Nigerian Union of Journalists and the Nigerian Guild of Editors.
Olamiti, who began his career as a cub reporter with the Nigerian Tribune, has shown depth, courage, and empathy in his work over the years, according to him.
President Buhari cited the influence of great writers, journalists, and nationalists, such as late Lagos State Governor Alhaji Lateef Jakande, on Olatimi’s career choice and growth, who prioritizes national unity and development over other interests.
The president wished Olatimi, a Fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors and a media consultant to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, good health and a long life.
