Rep member empowers 1000 women, youths with N20m capital in Sokoto

Alhaji Bala Kokani, the member representing Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency in Sokoto State, has presented start-up capital to 1000 women and youth in the constituency.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 500 women and youths each from Kebbe and Tambuwal Local Governments befitted from the N20 million donation.

Each of the beneficiaries was given N20, 000 as seed money to start up small scale businesses with a view to becoming self-reliant.

In his remarks at the event held on Saturday in Tambuwal, the lawmaker disclosed that the donation was part of efforts to redeem his campaign promises to the electorate.

“This is just a tip of the iceberg as more empowerment schemes would be unveiled for my constituents before the end of 2021 and beyond.”

Kokani pledged to remain committed to the development of the Constituency and engagement of the youths in productive ventures.

“This is the only way I can truly and humbly appreciate the trust they reposed in me,” he said.

In his remarks, the State Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Isa Achida, commended the lawmaker for the intervention. Represented by his deputy, Alhaji Hassan Dangote, Achida stated that the donation would lift the beneficiaries out of present difficulties.

“The gesture cannot come at a better time than now when Nigerians are facing a lot of socio-economic challenges,” he added.

Achida urged other elected and appointed officials to emulate Kokani, so as to further reduce the suffering of the masses.

APC leaders in Tambuwal and Kebbe local governments, Alhaji Nagwari Tambuwal and Alhaji Lawalli Marghai, also lauded Kokani for the gesture.

Similarly, Chairmen of the party in Tambuwal and Kebbe local councils, Alhaji Umaru Maitafsir and Alhaji Muhammadu Dan-Gado, respectively, commended the sustained efforts of the lawmaker to uplift the living standard of his constituents.
