Alhaji Ahmed Wadada, an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Nasarawa State in 2019, has emerged as the favorite candidate for Nasarawa West Senatorial District in 2023.
Alhaji Aliyu Tijjani, former Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, stated this when he declared his complete support for Wadada in the race for the senatorial seat.
Tijjani made the endorsement on Saturday in Keffi, at the inauguration of the Executive Committee of the Wadada Frontiers, a pro-democracy group of youths from the Nasarawa West Senatorial District’s five local government areas (LGAs).
According to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN), Wadada is the current Chairman of Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (PAN) and a former member of the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2011.
“We are here to inaugurate members of Wadada Frontiers’ Executive Committee, as well as to reiterate our support for Wadada’s senatorial ambition in Nasarawa West.”
“I want to tell you that our hope for winning an election is limitless, not only in Nasarawa State or the Nasarawa West Senatorial District, but in Nigeria as a whole.”
“As a result, the APC is the emblem, and it will retain power not only in Nasarawa State, but throughout the country,” Tijjani said.
Danladi Madaki, a former Commissioner for Environment in the state, also spoke at the event, saying Wadada’s candidacy represented hope for the youths, masses, vulnerable groups, and the voiceless in the democratic process.
“We are here because we, the youths, want to rekindle the hope of the people and politicians in Nasarawa State, particularly in the Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone.”
“That is why, as youths, elders, and grassroots politicians, we decided to ensure that Wadada is elected to the National Assembly’s upper chamber in 2023.”
“We put him to the test when we were in the lower chamber; we saw what he did; he used his position to empower the masses.”
“We felt he should be in the upper chamber to carry on the good work he has done in the past,” Madaki explained.
Alhaji Hamisu Abdulmumini, Zonal Chairman of the Frontiers, explained that the group was formed to galvanize support for Wadada in the zone, describing the group as a child of necessity.
Abdulmumini, who accused the Nasarawa West Senatorial District of a lack of constituency projects, stated that the people of the zone, particularly the youths, wished for better representation in the National Assembly.
Wadada responded by thanking the Nasarawa youths for considering him worthy of being endorsed for the Senate in 2023.
“Let me begin by expressing my gratitude to Allah, as well as my appreciation and commendation to the organizers of today’s event, known as Wadada Frontiers.”
“Thank you, Allah, for showing us this day; appreciation and commendation for them because, based on what they have demonstrated, they are very genuine.”
“Genuine because I had no idea how they formed this organization when they were forming it.” I only learned about it after it had been established.
“And, during the organization’s formation, none of them approached me for any kind of assistance or support, moral, financial, or otherwise.”
“And to this day, I have no idea how they got this office; nobody ever told me.”
“That is why I said they are very genuine, and I commend them because they have come together to market a product that, with due respect, cannot be wished away by anyone,” the senatorial candidate said.
According to NAN, Mr Taminu Adamson, former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Nasarawa State, attended the event.
Others in attendance included Mr James Thomas, Chairman of Karu LGA, and Alhaji Baba Shehu, Chairman of Keffi LGA, among others.
