On Tuesday, Adamawa Governor Ahmadu Fintiri reiterated his commitment to ensuring the safety of NYSC members stationed in the state.
His Chief of Staff, Prof. Maxwell Gidado, conveyed the assurance when he represented the governor to open the 2021 Batch ‘C’ Stream II orientation course for corps members posted to the state.
He charged the corps members with being security-conscious at all times and following personal security tips as directed by experts.
“As the state’s Chief Security Officer, I assure you that you will only be posted to locations where we are confident in your safety.”
“It’s important to remember that you’re your own number one security officer,” he said.
Prof. Gidado stated that the corps members had automatically become bona fide indigenes of the state and advised them to actively participate in the camp’s programs and activities in order to have a successful service year.
He emphasized that they should pay special attention to the service year’s skill acquisition program.
He stated that the orientation camp provided a fantastic opportunity for corps members to discover their talents and other potentials, and that they needed to stay focused.
The corps members were advised to avoid cultism, drug abuse, and other social vices in an address read by the NYSC Adamawa Coordinator, Malam Ibrahim Tukur, on behalf of the NYSC Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Shu’aibu Ibrahim.
He advised them to always follow the COVID-19 safety protocols and to follow the law.
He urged those who had not yet been immunized to do so in order to protect themselves from the virus.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), 152 corps members have registered for the orientation exercise.
