Mr Olukayode Popoola, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, said on Friday that section one of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway reconstruction/rehabilitation project was 70% complete.
Popoola told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that 39 of the 43.6 kilometres of section one of the highway, which runs from Ojota in Lagos to the Sagamu Interchange, had reached the final layer.
“The total length achieved up to and including the wearing course is approximately 39 kilometers out of 43.6 kilometers.” “We should be close to 70% finished,” he said.
Popoola also stated in a statement that construction between Warewa and Arepo had been completed, allowing diversion points to be removed.
According to NAN, the controller announced a six-day diversion on the one-and-a-half-kilometer stretch for repairs on Sunday, Nov. 28.
“The laying of the wearing course between Warewa and Arepo has been completed,” Popoola said.
“The traffic diversion that began on Monday will be reinstated by Saturday, 4 December 2021, at 11 a.m.”
He thanked motorists and commuters for their patience and understanding, and stated that the Federal Government is committed to completing outstanding work as soon as possible in order to complete the project by 2022.
According to NAN, Julius Berger is in charge of section one of the highway, while Reynolds Construction Company is in charge of section two, which runs from the Sagamu Interchange to Ojoo in Ibadan (RCC).
