The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has assured youths of increased support for modern and sustainable agricultural practices.

Malam Abubakar Ibrahim, FCTA Secretary, Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, made the assurance at the 13th graduation of trainees at the Leventis Foundation Nigeria FCT Agriculture School in Yaba, FCT.

Ibrahim stated that the secretariat would continue to make concerted efforts to redirect youth energies into agriculture.

According to him, this will result in job creation, empowerment, and social balance.

He stated that the graduating trainees would soon receive starter packs for agricultural production.

He also assured the institute that the FCTA would pay its counterpart funding to ensure the institute’s continued operations.

Regardless of COVID-19, he stated that agricultural activities would be given the attention they deserved by the FCTA.

“There is no denying that the COVID-19 outbreak caused some setbacks, but we will continue with our agricultural projects,” he said.

Mrs Agnes Yusuf, Principal, Leventis Foundation Nigeria, FCT Agriculture School, stated in her remarks that the institute had graduated 62 youths from the 2021 batch of trainees.

According to Yusuf, 19 of the 62 graduates are female.

She went on to say that the latest figure brought the school’s total number of youths trained in its regular one-year free training program, which began in 2008.
