The Katsina State Government has directed that the recent security confinement order in the state not affect small ruminants such as goats and sheep.
SP Gambo Isah, the state Police Public Relations Officer, announced this in a statement to newsmen on Tuesday in Katsina.
“His Excellency has directed that small animals such as goats and sheep be exempt from the containment order as previously planned.”
“As a result, the Committee’s Chairman, Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Sanusi Buba, has also directed all DPOs (Divisional Police Officers) to allow the sale of that category of animals in markets throughout the state.”
According to a police spokesperson, “this is for the information and guidance of the enforcement committee and all stakeholders.”
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Gov. Aminu Masari recently signed a Security Containment order prohibiting the sale of cattle in state markets.
