Sen. Hezekiah Dimka (APC Plateau Central) says he has given his constituents tricycles, motorcycles, grinding machines, water pumping machines, sewing machines, and knapsack sprayers.
Dimka stated in a statement issued by his media aide, Katdapba Gobum, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Jos, that the 500 items were part of his efforts to empower the people and make them self-sufficient.
He stated that before distributing the items, the recipients were trained on how to manage them for their small-scale businesses.
“We’ve also trained and given grants to 300 young men and women in livestock, potato, maize, tomato, and rice production.”
“Teaching and providing a grant to 100 Plateau Central youths and women in October 2021 on modern potato farming techniques.”
“We organized a drug awareness workshop for 210 youths and women in Kanam, Kanke, and Mangu Local Government Areas,” he said.
Dimka, who acknowledged the importance of security for people conducting business, stated that he had provided and installed solar lights in all of Plateau Central’s ward headquarters.
He stated that the initiative’s goal was to reduce and prevent security breaches at night by criminal elements.
In addition, the senator stated that he provided 500KVA transformers for rural electrification in Kanke and Kanam local government areas.
He also stated that he had requested bills of quantity to begin the parameter fencing of the state’s Police Divisional Office in Kwal, Kanke Local Government Area.
