Some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) said on Thursday that Chief Bisi Akande’s selfless service to humanity is worthy of emulation.
The stalwarts made the remarks in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the Public Presentation of Akande’s Autobiography, titled “My Participations,” in Lagos.
Rep. Mufutau Egberongbe, member representing Apapa Federal Constituency in the National Assembly’s lower chamber, told NAN that “Baba Akande, a former Interim National Chairman of the party, has continually reminded us that politics is synonymous with service.”
Akande was described as morally and educationally sound by Egberongbe.
Mr Cornelius Ojelabi, the Lagos APC Chairman-elect, added, “The life of Chief Bisi Akande is a lesson to all of us that wherever we find ourselves, whatever the kind of opportunities that are given to us, we should serve the people to the best of our ability.”
“We can hear encomiums being poured out by everyone on this personality, including the President, about the man’s uprightness, how committed, diligent, and truthful he is.”
“I am overjoyed,” says the author. This is the type of person those of us in positions of power should aspire to be.”
Mr Segun Olulade, a two-term former Lagos lawmaker who represented Epe Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, said Akande possessed great values that many should emulate.
Olulade described the autobiography as a must-read for anyone who aspired to be great in Nigeria.
“People who want to uphold integrity, dignity, and selfless service must read this book,” he said.
“We can learn from Baba Bisi Akande’s virtues such as integrity, honesty, selfless service, and a firm belief in humanity and mass protection.” He is not corrupt.
“I plan to read it, recommend it, and purchase it for others to read.” “I’ll get the book for anyone who wants to be a leader,” he said.
Former House of Representatives member Dr. Usman Bugaje stated that politics required men of conscience and courage, which Akande embodied.
The Chief Host, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Govs Kayode Fayemi, Mai Bala-Buni, Dapo Abiodun, Adegboyega Oyetola, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, and Atiku Bagudu of Ekiti, Yobe, Ogun, Osun, Kwara, and Kebbi State respectively.
The Senate President, Sen. Ahmad Lawan, Sen. Tokunbo Abiru, Sen. Solomon Adeola, and Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele, as well as the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ex-Gov. Gbenga Daniel of Ogun, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, and Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, former Minister of Science and Technology and Chairman of the occasion, were also at the event.
