Nigeria records 533 new cases of COVID-19

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 533 COVID-19 infections on Friday across ten states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

It also stated that no COVID-19 deaths had been reported.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the 533 new infections represent a 221 decrease from the 754 cases recorded on Thursday.

According to the NCDC, Lagos State had the most new infections (428), followed by the FCT (45), Rivers (33), Edo (9) and Ogun State (8).

It went on to say that Oyo State had three cases, Delta and Kaduna each had two, and Gombe, Jigawa, and Kano each had one.

It also stated that the 533 new infections raised the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria to 216,451.

It was noted that 207,661 COVID-19 patients had recovered and been released from hospitals.

With no new COVID-19 fatalities, Nigeria’s death toll now stands at 2,981, according to NAN.

Since the outbreak on February 27, 2020, Nigeria has tested 3,629,527 samples.
