According to Yusuf Abdullahi, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Bauchi State, no fewer than 16 people were killed in a road accident that occurred in the state on Sunday.
Abdullahi verified the event in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Bauchi.
According to him, the accident occurred at 7:00 p.m. on Kano-Jama’are Road in Bambal village, involving an articulated truck and one other commercial Toyota Hummer bus.
The sector commander, who said it took his personnel about seven minutes to arrive at the scene and clear the scene, blamed the accident on a speeding violation.
“The crash involved sixteen people, ten males and six females, and all of the people onboard died as a result of the crash.”
“After colliding with the truck, the Hummer bus burst into flames, and no one survived.”
“Some people inside the Hummer bus were burned beyond recognition,” Abdullahi said.
He revealed that the bodies had been deposited in the morgue of Kiyawa General Hospital on the Kano-Jama’are road for identification.
The Sector Commander advised motorists to always be aware of traffic rules and regulations when driving.
