Makinde characterized the death of the first class oba as a major loss to Ogbomoso Kingdom, Oyo State, and mankind in general in a condolence message sent by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Taiwo Adisa, on Sunday in Ibadan.
The governor described him as a classic oba, a man of peace and a fervent advocate of development who used his wealth of experience to promote Ogbomosoland throughout the years.
He offered sympathy to the oba’s immediate family, the people of Ogbomoso, and the Oyo State Council of Obas.
According to him, I was shocked to learn of our father’s ascension to glory, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III, the Soun of Ogbomosoland.
“Though Kabiyesi lived to the age of 95, his death at this time is still a huge loss to the state and traditional institutions, because he has created a vacuum, not only in Ogbomosoland, but also in the entire state and nation.”
“In Kabiyesi, we had a classic monarch who cherished and worked for peace and development.”
“During his years on his forefathers’ throne, Oba Oyewumi left a lasting impression on Ogbomosoland and, by extension, Oyo State.”
“On behalf of the people and government of Oyo State, I express our heartfelt condolences to the departed monarch’s immediate family and the people of Ogbomosoland.”
“I also express condolences to the Obas of Oyo State, who have lost a prominent member in Oba Oyewumi.”
“I pray to God to grant Kabiyesi Aljanah Firdaus and everyone the strength to bear this loss,” Makinde said.
