Mrs Kikelomo Delano, the council chairwoman of Ifo Local Government in Ogun State, has urged traders to refrain from exhibiting products on the highways to prevent incoming vehicles from slamming into them during the Yuletide season.

Delano gave the advice to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Ota.

She emphasized the importance of being safety conscious by not allowing anyone to display goods or block roads in order to avoid mishaps, particularly when vehicles’ breaks fail.

“We’ve seen cases where incoming vehicles rammed into those selling goods and wares on the side of the road due to careless driving and brake failure.”

“As a result, it is not advisable to allow anyone to block the roads because it is extremely dangerous and can sometimes result in unnecessary loss of life,” she explained.

The chairperson went on to say that when goods are displayed on highways, motorists will be unable to experience free flow of traffic, forcing them to spend more time stuck in traffic.

Delano urged Ifo residents to pay their taxes on time in order to improve infrastructure in the area.

She stated that council officials are working tirelessly to improve Internally Generated Revenues in order to provide better dividends of democracy to the people.
