Onyekwere Ezewonye, 44, has been arraigned in Lagos for allegedly assaulting his sister over a property sale.
On a two-count charge of assault and willful destruction of property, the defendant appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court.
He, on the other hand, pleaded not guilty to the charge before Magistrate Ademola Adesanya.
The prosecutor, ASP Simeon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the crimes on December 9 at Kilometer 23 of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
Uche claimed that the defendant assaulted the complainant, Happiness Igwe, after a disagreement over the sale of their family’s property.
The prosecutor claims that the defendant assaulted Igwe after he challenged him to sell the property.
He also stated that the defendant willfully damaged the roofing sheet of a bungalow owned by Mrs Stella Eze on the same day.
Uche claimed that the offenses violated Sections 168 and 350 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.
The defendant was granted bail in the sum of N100,000, with two sureties in the same amount, and the case was adjourned until January 17, for mention.
