The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reported on Saturday that 435 road traffic incidents occurred in Niger State between January and November 2021.
Mr Musa Mohammed, Sector Commander of the Corps in the state, revealed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna, saying the accidents resulted in 252 deaths and 1,307 injuries.
According to Mohammed, at least 2,424 people were involved in the accidents that occurred throughout the state.
Overspeeding was identified by the sector commander as one of the state’s major problems among motorists.
According to him, over-speeding and overtaking on sharp bends on highways were responsible for 80% of the accidents.
To avoid road mishaps, he advised motorists to exercise caution and strictly adhere to speed limits.
Mohammed stated that the corps would continue to monitor road usage in order to prevent dangerous driving.
